Two Consortia Progress to Competitive Dialogue

Two high quality consortia have been selected to go to the next stage of tendering for Blackpool Council’s £172 million Building Schools for the Future programme.

New Horizons consortia lead by Morgan Sindall, and the Eric Wright Group will now enter into a ‘competitive dialogue’ process with the Council and schools to develop a greater understanding of concepts and how learning will take place in the future.

Executive Director for Children Services, David Lund, congratulated the two shortlisted companies and said: “This programme is our opportunity to create modern learning environments and to have an educational provision for the 21st century. We welcome the consortia’s enthusiasm for our ambitious and exciting plans and look forward to working with them over the coming months.”

Work on the first two schools, Highfield Humanities College and St Mary’s Catholic College is expected to begin in January 2011 and be completed by Spring 2013, all schools should be completed by late 2016.
